Cowes Fireworks New Years Eve

Fireworks displays have been a traditional form of celebration for a long time, and the Cowes fireworks on New Years Eve have become a popular part of Phillip Island's summer.

Who doesn’t enjoy the rockets launching into the sky then exploding in a beautiful burst of colour with the associated bang?

Or the vivid colours and shapes as they float down from the sky?

And accompanied by the oohs and aahs from the crowd?

The Crowd Watches the Cowes Fireworks New Years Eve

Where is the Cowes New Years Eve Fireworks Display?

The pyrotechnics for the Cowes Fireworks on New Years Eve, are set up on Cowes Jetty, which is closed for public access during New Year’s Eve.

The best place to watch the display is from the lawn areas between Cowes Beach and The Esplanade. Bring a rug and have a picnic or just buy an ice cream from the nearby shops.

It is free to watch the fireworks.

Generally, there are thousands of people, so get in early for your favourite viewing spot.

For an extra touch, bring some glow sticks to get into the festive mood.

When Do the Cowes Fireworks on New Years Eve Begin?

The display begins at 9.30pm and lasts about 10 to 15 minutes.

After the display finishes, there is a huge exodus of people, so traffic in the surrounding streets sometimes comes to a standstill.

A good idea is to park further away from The Esplanade and walk to the viewing area, making it quicker to get away.

Fireworks Disturbance to Animals

Fireworks can be a source of severe stress to domestic animals such as cats and dogs.

They can experience fear, anxiety and even physical harm from the loud noises and sudden explosions.

If you own pets, please shut them safely and securely inside your home during the display time. Dogs may escape from a fenced garden or yard if they become really distressed.
