Anerie

Anerie in Cowes is a French bistro where you could believe you were in France, not Phillip Island.

Located in one of the very old shops on Thompson Avenue, which still retains its stained glass and original frontage, it is a perfect setting.

Since opening last year, Anerie has become very popular so be sure to plan ahead for your reservation.

Inside is compact but with a lovely intimate vibe. There is also outdoor seating, especially inviting in summer.

Staff are wonderfully welcoming and helpful.

For your night out, I suggest you kick off with a cocktail – I recommend the martini.

There is a daily specials list or choose from the comprehensive menu.

All servings are very generous and delicious.

Most items on the menu are gluten free so coeliacs have a great number of choices. It is always heartening to see so many gluten free selections on Phillip Island.

Entrees cover soups and many seafood plates – I loved the Queensland King Prawn Cocktail, presented with an Anerie twist on the old favourite.

Mains include duck, fish, steak, chicken as well as vegetarian, with lots of side dishes to choose from.

For those who have a sweet tooth, there are several scrumptious desserts such as crème brulee (of course!), lemon tart and poached pear.

Anerie is a wonderful addition to the dining scene on Phillip Island and a visit is highly recommended.
