Don’t want to cook? Try some of the best Phillip Island take-away cafes for a delicious, inexpensive meal.
Every type of food imaginable is available – burgers, fish and chips, Asian, Greek…
Or for lunches, there are sandwiches and wraps.
Remember, in summer the island is very busy so plan for a bit of a wait if there are crowds. Some establishments are happy to take phone orders.

Situated in the main shopping area, this is one of my favourite Phillip Island take-away options as there are not many places that do a gluten free burger.
About 20 different burgers, including vegetarian, are available.
If you have any allergy, ask for the “allergy sheet” which lists which burgers are OK for allergies such as gluten, peanut and lactose. Eight burgers are gluten free.
My favourite is “The Chilli Chick” – chicken breast, avocado, bacon, jalapenos, salad, chilli sauce and aioli. Delicious.
Beef burgers come in Greek Feast, The Mexican and The Okker plus many other combinations. Find the one you love the best!
A new addition to the burger menu is the Stockman's Burger. Made with Gippsland beef, it's a great nod to local producers.
All burgers are huge, there is no stinting on fillings. Hot chips and salads are also available.
Smaller burger combos are available for children.
Burger prices range from $7.90 up to $11.90.
There are a few tables inside if you prefer to eat in.

Where to start with the offerings of Kristo's? This very café is one of the best Phillip Island take-away destinations, especially for families.
Located on The Esplanade overlooking Westernport Bay towards the mainland, you can also eat at the few tables inside or on footpath tables.
Offering packs of chicken, souvlaki, roast dinners, schnitzels, seafood plus wraps, rolls, chips, burgers….. the list goes on.
For children there is a special menu.
I love this café as it is the only place where I can buy gluten free hot chips – how good is that? The proprietors have a deep fryer for gluten free chips only.
Generous servings is a feature of the meals. Try a souvlaki pack with your choice of meat plus pita bread (or chips for coeliacs) and Greek salad with garlic yoghurt – yum.
Phone orders are welcome.

During holidays open for lunch and dinner.

A chocolate factory doesn't sound like a healthy option for a meal does it?!
However, the cafe here has fantastic authentic Indian curries, available for lunch - eat in or take away.
Lunch usually finishes around 3.00pm so get in before then. Simply re-heat for a delicious evening meal.
Curries are gluten free, but always check with the chef.
Prices around $12 for curry and accompaniments.

The Fat Seagull has a comprehensive take away menu - pizzas, pasta, curry, stir fry plus favourites such as chicken parma and fish and chips - as well as their restaurant.
For Coeliacs, a gluten free pizza base is available for an extra charge, as well as gluten free gnocchi.
Pizza toppings range from traditional to gourmet and come in three sizes, the largest being 13". Prices for a large are mostly around $15.
You can choose spaghetti, fettucine or penne with one of the range of sauces. All pasta dishes are between $14 and $16.
